Site Maintenance

Real-time weather station information on the Hood River Weather site will be intermittant this evening as I re-install the station software. Hopefully this will eliminate the occasional temperature and rainfall spikes that have been occuring for the past few weeks.

Some historical graphs will be zeroed out initially, so it will take a while for the data to fill back in. Thanks for your patience.

  1. I think it would be great to have polls on your site with a little more teeth in them, considering we have reached the 500 billion mark in Iraq in 4 years, Abu Ghraib anniversary is today, Bush is about to veto anything coming out of congress with regards to leaving Iraq, and the president can now declare martial law at the slightest provocation by the public exercising civil disobedience in protest. It would be interesting to see what the people in this area think about even one of these issues.

  2. Thanks, great suggestion, "mother of jehu" (if that is indeed your real name...hehe)

The truth is, many times I struggle to come up with an interesting weekly poll question, and after putting it up on the web site, I end up concluding "dude, that was an absolutely lame poll question..." Which is why I encourage site visitors to submit poll suggestions, and have an email link on the site for that purpose.

I use the poll sometimes to get an idea of the demographics of site visitors. But mostly, I love it when I get suggestions, so keep em coming!

And I'm sure that local folks have a variety of strong opinions on Iraq, the "war on terror", the loss of privacy and freedoms, and the Prez's performance. So expect some more polls on those topics.

Pardon my prying, but I can't help but wonder... who the mother of Jehu is or represents...I know who the biblical Jehu was, but... his mother?

  3. It's a sort of mother-to-all, even god, moniker that reflects my age and illusions of grandeur. Will post some suggestions for polls soon as I create them.

  4. Suggestion for a poll:

Do you think the number civilian deaths in Iraq and Afganistan are acceptable?
    1 acceptable
    2 partially acceptable
    3 completely unacceptable

  5. Good question. That'll probably be next week's poll. I might tweak it a bit, but will try to keep it recognizable.
